Internships

If you are looking for anOur programs and What We do – Farmers educating farmers opportunity for an internship in Africa, we can make the arrangements for you. Initially, we are starting by making connections to farmers in Uganda, but we shall soon expand to cover other African countries with time. We can make arrangements for individual students, just as much as we can make arrangements for groups of students. All you need to do is to sign up here and we shall work with you. Just sign up and we shall do the rest. Our teams will work with you to figure out what your learning and experiential needs are. We shall provide you with a list of potential farmers with whom you could link up.

Step by step

We shall work with you to establish which farmers will give you the most experience. After signing up, we shall give you paperwork to establish your engagement terms and we shall handle all the necessary discussions with the farmers. We shall also obtain all necessary local government clearance to give you a desirable learning experience. At all times, we shall engage with you to make sure we meet your needs. We shall address all your concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.

Signing up and fees

For all this, we shall charge you a small fee that is commensurate with the services you get and the effort that we put in. You will pay the fees in two installments. We request that you pay 50% of the fees at the signing of the first contract and you will pay the second installment once you land in the country. This is at the beginning of your learning experience.

Visa, Accommodation and local transportation

We shall assist you in obtaining the visa as necessary, but Ugandan visas are now obtainable online ahead of your travel. Just sign up here to get involved and obtain your visa. If you experience any difficulties obtaining your visa ahead of your travel, you should be able to obtain one at the airport. You will pay about $50 for obtaining the visa. Check for other travel requirements before your travel.

Once you go through immigration and customs, you will meet our teams at the exit, from where they will transport you to Kampala for your first night. The following day, our team will agree with you if you want to travel to your farm destination directly, or if you would like some cool-down time. Depending on your selection, our teams will guide you to visit some familiar sites around Kampala, before eventually taking you to your farm site.

You will bear the costs of accommodation and local transportation, but our teams will facilitate the arrangements. You will be our priority. We shall guide you to safety and comfort.

At the farm

On an agreed day, our team will transport you to your farm site. Accommodation at the farm will be either be on the farm (if they have the facilities and amenities) or at a facility near the farm. We shall try to secure accommodation at the farm, to give you an invaluable experience of living on the farm and with a Ugandan family. This could be a cheaper alternative cost-wise. You may only have to contribute to some family upkeep costs (groceries). Where we cannot secure accommodation at the farm, we shall arrange for affordable accommodation nearby. This may cost you a bit more.

Our teams will work with you to make sure that you are comfortable and learning appropriately. Accordingly, in case of need, we shall make adjustments to meet your expectations.
