Who can adopt a farmer?

Adopting farmers is an innovation, which links families, communities, and institutions of farmers. But who can adopt a farmer or community of farmers? When you hear of adoption, the first thing that jumps out is relocation! No, not at all. Nobody gets translocated. On the contrary, this is an opportunity for you to build a relationship with less privileged farming communities. You will help them to improve their gaming skills and to grow their farming business. So, who can adopt a farmer or community of farmers?

Family

You can adopt farmers such as these

If you are a family, looking to support a farmer or community of farmers in the developing world to improve their farming, this is a great platform. Through this arrangement, you can share experiences and knowledge. The program gives you a platform to share your passion and pains. You can combine pleasure and treasure on your next vacation. This is done by making your visit contribute to the development of your adopted farmer family or community of farmers.

Community or group of farmers

Whether you are an organized community or a  group of farmers, FSS works with you to support the farmers. You will mentor, coach and help steer the farming industry in a developing country, in the right direction. You do not need to be an organization. Just get in touch with our contact person, and the relationship begins.

Cooperative of Farmers

In Uganda and other African countries, the cooperative movement is struggling to remain afloat due to many challenges. Weak governance and limited resources top the list of challenges. We help successful cooperatives in the developed world, to build relationships with fledgling cooperatives in the developing world. You will share experiences, which should help your adopted farmer group to create their trail of success. The adopted community of farmers or cooperative has the responsibility to up their game, to mirror the best practices of their adopted cooperative.

Churches and Institutions of Faith

The Churches and other institutions of faith bring together believers from various professions. They utilize spiritual approaches to transform lives. Churches are encouraged to adopt farming communities through their local churches. Through this relationship, the faith, social and economic wellbeing of the adopted farmers, institutions or congregation is greatly enhanced. This program provides a platform, through which farming professionals or farmers can support farmers in a congregation of their choice. Agricultural missionaries are welcome.

Universities, Colleges, Research Institutions and Schools

Institutions of higher education are instrumental to advancing knowledge and research. We encourage research institutions, schools, universities and colleges to adopt communities of farmers, schools, colleges, or universities. They support to enhance their farming skills and practices. By adopting a group of farmers the Institution gains an established system, through which they advance their knowledge and research.

Funding Agencies

Whether you are an agency already working in Uganda, or you are just looking to enter Uganda, FSS would like the opportunity to partner with you. There are three major ways that we offer to partner with funding agencies. First, you can be an outright donor, providing resources to FSS to implement programs on your behalf. Secondly, you could entrust your resources to FSS to manage them on your behalf. Thirdly, you could adopt a community of farmers through the adopt a farmer program. FSS helps you to identify suitable farming communities that you can adopt, and work with or support at a reduced cost to you. FSS will help you to lower your administrative costs and burden.

Rotary Clubs

With your heart to help and create the desired change, FSS will identify viable projects that suit your objectives. A number of the supporters and well-wishers of FSS are either Rotarians or Rotaracts. Through FSS you will adopt a community of farmers that you can support to obtain farming inputs. You can visit these farmers and encourage them to improve their farming businesses.
